Rail Infrastructure

SMS Rail Lines provides cost-effective and FRA compliant services for the construction of new infrastructure, and the repair and maintenance of existing rail lines. Whether you are looking to design and build a new spur, modify an existing rail line, replace as little as a single section of ageing track, or need emergency repairs, count on SMS to handle the job. We can also perform inspections and help you source the materials necessary to keep your railroad operation running smoothly and safely.

Railcar Storage

Most SMS locations have extra track capacity for short- and long-term storage of railcars of all types and sizes, containing hazardous and non-hazardous materials as well as empty and residue cars. Our track record of quality service and industry knowledge means we have the experience required to store your cars safely and securely. All locations are plate ‘F’ and 286K capable.

SMS offers the convenience of on-demand switching services and access to major Class I railways for easy reassignment of cars to rail lines throughout the northeast region and beyond.

Warehouse & Truck Brokerage

SMS manages full-service warehousing of customer owned commodities, with the ability to administer inbound and outbound railcar and truck loads and provide daily inventory reporting. Our warehouses are located in a gated, secure, rail-served facility. We also operate a truck brokerage division that assists our clients with short- and long-haul over-the-road deliveries. Our carriers are fully insured, vetted by SMS, and possess the UIIA credentials necessary to access ports, making the global connection.
